Country Club Speed Mitigation Petition

Additional Help Needed for
Speed Mitigation Petition

The RillitoBend Neighborhood is making progress to try to slow down vehicles on Country Club.  After working with the Country Club working group (including the Tucson Racquet and Fitness Club), the City is proposing four speed tables* carefully placed between Prince Rd. and the Racquet Club.

To demonstrate support for the speed tables, we need to get signatures from 60% of the residents and property owners on or adjacent to Country Club – and we need your help.

Several volunteers are collecting signatures on the required petitions, but we need more participation from residents and property owners adjacent to Country Club.  If you can help, please contact Stephen Brigham at President@RillitoBendNA.org

For the those willing to help circulate petitions and get signatures, please let us know which properties you are going to approach so that we can coordinate the petition effort – and minimize redundant efforts.   Download the petition and map HERE

As you approach residents and property owners, please summarize the following to help explain the petition process:

  • The recommended proposal is to install four 3-inch-high x 20 foot long speed tables* on this section of Country Club which will help drivers keep their vehicles within the posted 25 MPH speed limit.
  • We are required to obtain signatures of support for 60% of the residents (which can include renters) and property owners in the highlighted area. The City will then verify if we obtained the required 60%.
  • Remember that for apartment complexes and other businesses, we only need a signature from the property owner or property representative.
  • For townhouses, condominiums or single-family homes, individual signatures from the individual residence are needed – note that a renter can sign the petition if the owner is not available.
  • For properties with a Homeowners Association (HOA), it would be best to start with the HOA or property manager to get initial support from the governing body.  The HOA can then assist with getting signatures.
  • For vacant properties, you please list the address on the petition and simply note “VACANT” without a signature.
  • Return signed petitions to Stephen or Lindy Brigham at 3754 N. Camino Leamaria in the Rancho Morado subdivision.  If we are not home, please leave the petition in the brass pot inside the front vestibule gate.  You can also return them to Lindy Brigham, Secretary for RillitoBend by scanning and emailing the petitions to: RBNA_Roads@RillitoBendNA.org
  • Once the signatures are gathered and approved by City Transportation, we then apply to Ward 3 to seek the four speed tables required for the project.
  • Since the Council office is only assigned five speed tables per year to help neighborhoods fund the speed tables under the “Speed Hump Program,” it may be more than a year before we can proceed with the project.

*Please note that speed tables are NOT speed humps. To see the difference, go to the City’s link : https://www.tucsonaz.gov/Departments/Transportation-Mobility/DTM-Projects-Programs/Transportation-and-Mobility-Projects/Speed-Humps).  Carefully spaced speed tables have proven effective at keeping vehicles within the posted speed limits on many roadways such as Mountain Avenue and Randolph Way.  These four speed tables would be constructed between Prince Road and north to the Racquet Club.

If there are any questions, please contact Stephen Brigham, RillitoBend Board President directly at President@RillitoBendNA.org or 520-955-2601.

Thank you for your support of this important and long overdue project.
