Heidi is a native Tucsonan and third- generation Arizonan. Music and Nature have been her lifelong passions.
Heidi has performed in a number of bands and orchestras for more than 40 years. Musical styles include folk, bluegrass, jazz, Gypsy music, praise music, and here, popular music. After retiring from more than 30 years of public service with Saguaro National Park and Coronado National Forest, Heidi now spends much of her time volunteering with Rotary Club Tucson Verde, Sky Island Alliance, St. Pius X Catholic Church and Watershed Management Group. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Lakes at Castle Rock community, and also with the Bear Canyon Neighborhood Association. Making connections is a favored activity, along with all things music and nature, and of course her boys, Kenny and Raindance. |
From the vibrant harmonies of the girl groups of the ‘60s, which I would listen to on my trusty Silvertone 9 transistor pocket radio, to my very first 45 rpm record by Stevie Wonder (“Fingertips Part 2”), my musical journey has been one of passion and discovery. Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin” marked my initiation into the world of vinyl with my first 33 1/3 rpm album. The Beatles soon followed, inspiring me to want to learn guitar. My first guitar was a Gibson ES which was a gift from my parents.
Despite years of struggling to make music, a friend’s introduction to the fingerstyle guitar music of Leo Kottke sparked a new wave of enthusiasm. With determination, I learned to read guitar tablature, eventually finding joy in playing out. I joined a folk music club a few years before moving to Tucson in 2000. Some years later, I joined a church choir, playing guitar and learning to read standard music notation. My musical curiosity didn’t stop there; I expanded my repertoire to include various stringed instruments like the mandolin, banjo, auto-harp, mountain dulcimer and hammered dulcimer, each adding a new layer to my ever-evolving musical endeavors. I am a member of the Tucson Dulcimer Ensemble which is a group of musicians who play various traditional instruments such as Appalachian dulcimer, Hammered dulcimer, Irish whistle and the like. I have enjoyed playing in song-circles with the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association, the Tucson Dulcimer Ensemble and local Celtic Slow Jams. |
Hi all, my name is Rob, and my spouse Katie and I have lived in the RillitoBend neighborhood for the last 15 years. We are proud to be here! It’s really wonderful that so many talented artists live in our neighborhood. I’ve been making music on and off since I was a young lad, and I’m thrilled that the Rillito Bend Band has included me…what a great bunch of talented and super nice folks!
On another note, I’d also like to find like-minded individuals who’d be interesting in forming a “garage band” and plugging in to make some really joyous noise! Let me know if you might be interested at raseaman@aol.com. Thanks all! |
I’ve always imagined hanging out under a ramada at Rio Vista Park and jamming with my neighbors. Practicing with the local musicians for the RillitoBend Neighborhood Spring Arts and Music Festival is like a dream come true, and I imagine we will continue to play together at neighborhood events for years to come.

Bringing people together through music is magical. It turns out, our RillitoBend community has a lot of wonderful and talented people. It’s time to celebrate how lucky we are living where people are willing to chip in and get things done such as preserving the Rio Vista National Resource Park, and beautifying road easements with rain and linear gardens.
Best of all we are having a Spring Festival at our beloved, Valley of the Moon. I’m an on again/off again flute player. See you at the Festival! |
